The 2008 benefit concert was moved to a more intimate setting at Wynn Las Vegas. This change brought with it a variety of event and public relations challenges such as working with a new site team, space constraints that limited media availability and the elimination of public ticket sales, plus a slowing economy and a change in the fundraising format. In spite of this and other challenges the event was a sell-out and the celebrity appearances – both for the red carpet and for the show – featured a great mix of old favorites and new stars that yielded widespread local, national international media coverage. The subsequent Grand Slam concerts enjoyed similar success and the event continues to be an important source of funding for the foundation’s initiatives.
