The R&R campaign focused on the impact that such an institution would have on the community and its educational system, and raised a rallying cry for parents, educators and the community at large. The branding message also gave Nevada Discovery Museum staff something real to aspire to and deliver upon. After the initial launch announcement, the fundraising effort concentrated on major gifts of $100,000 or more and R&R worked behind the scenes to build the confidence of potential donors. By positioning the Nevada Discovery Museum organization as inspired and professional with the energy and expertise to bring this ambitious project to fruition, we were able to capture the imaginations of local philanthropists and help them to make informed donation decisions.
Four years after the project’s inception, a little more than the $20 million has been raised and construction of the museum is underway, with the grand opening planned for September 2011 — a giant feat for a small community.
